Description
One that both northern and southern gardeners can grow outdoors year round, ‘Perfect Storm” is long-blooming perennial Hibiscus that is cold hardy all the way to USDA Zone 4a. Perfectly named, abundant, very large (8″ diameter) flowers with white overlapping and “turning” petals are marked and streaked with “lightning strikes” of pink to deep pink. The deep purplish black foliage on mounding cloud-shaped plants to 3 feet tall and 5 feet wide make the flowers pop! Not only you will enjoy this marvelous plant, your butterfly and hummingbirds will thank you for including it in your garden.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 3 feet tall and 5 feet wide, the Perfect Storm Hibiscus makes a bold and beautiful specimen in the landscape or in large containers. Especially impressive in groupings of three or as a colorful hedge. Because it blooms all summer and into fall, and has such bold foliage, it makes a nice backdrop or centerpiece in flower gardens. A natural in butterfly and hummingbird gardens and for adding a tropical flare to your outdoor living spaces.
Suggested Spacing:Â 3 to 4 feet apart for hedge;Â 8 feet or more apart for space between plants
Growing Preferences
Hardy Hibiscus are very easy to grow. They prefer a moist but well-drained soil and plenty of sunshine, though some shade is tolerated. During prolonged periods of summer drought plants will appreciate supplemental water to bloom their best. Maintenance is minimal requiring just one pruning a year to prune plants back to ground when new growth begins to emerge in spring.

I purchased this hibiscus for my sister who lives in Falmouth MA. After sending her some photos from mine blooming in my garden. Thinking that it would arrive without blossoms coming from Georgia. I was so surprised when she texted me that she had many blossoms almost ready to open. I have never been disappointed by any plants that I purchased from Wilson Brothers. Wonderful specimens. Thank you.————————————You’re very welcome! We are so glad you are pleased and we hope your sister enjoys it for years to come! Thanks for the kind words and wonderful review! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG
