Growing 3 feet tall and 6 to 10 wide, the Maryland Spreader Holly is ideal for use as a specimen, in groupings, or as a natural hedge in sunny or shady landscape or woodland borders and home foundation plantings. We reall6y love this one in a woodland setting. Responds well to shearing for size control. Also suitable for growing in medium to large pots, planters and other containers of 18 inches or more in diameter.
Suggested Spacing:Â 5 feet apart for solid hedge; 15 feet or more apart for space between plants
Growing Preferences
The Maryland Spreader Holly is exceptionally easy to grow North American native that will thrive in most any moist to dry soil of average fertility and full sun or shade. When provided room to grow it will require little if any pruning, however can be pruned for size control and shaping purposes. Very drought tolerant when established but will also tolerate constantly moist to boggy soils.Â
