Emerald Feather Juniper – 7 Gallon Pot (4-5′)

The Emerald feather Juniper, also known as Eastern Red Cedar, is a dwarf cultivar that reaches only 12 feet tall and 5 feet wide, making it a perfect selection as a privacy screen or evergreen accent tree where space and height are limited, such as under powerlines. It is also nice for framing the corners of homes or other structures, as an outdoor Christmas tree, or trimming to form a spiral or poodle tier topiary. Being a North American native makes this coniferous evergreen very easy to grow. The attractive feathery foliage is dense and emerald green with a very smooth feel. As with other Eastern Red Cedars, abundant blue berries the birds will appreciate will adorn the foliage in late fall. Everything from eastern bluebirds and evening grosbeaks to wild turkeys and sharp-tailed grouse devour the fruit. While plants of the original species will vary in size and shape as they grow, we grow Emerald Feather from cuttings, which results in clones that will provide uniformity in growth rate, form and size, provided soil conditions in the planting area are similar. Proven to be extremely low maintenance, drought tolerant, disease resistant, cold hardy to -40F and heat tolerant to USDA Zone 9b, it’s hard to go wrong with this tough but handsome native.
