With flowers that are strikingly bigger than other English lavender cultivars, Big Time Blue Lavender features abundant, very large spikes densely packed with fragrant deep violet-blue flowers that rise above and stand out beautifully against the mound of fragrant grey-green foliage. From late spring or early summer through early fall, the butterflies and beneficial pollinators will enjoy the nectar-rich flowers. The flowers are also great for cutting and use in fresh or dried flower arrangements, sachets and potpourri. Fast growing, easy to grow and drought and cold tolerant (-20F), Big Time Blue is excellent in garden beds or containers. Plant it near walkways, decks and patios where its wonderful fragrance can be enjoyed.

Growing 18 to 24 inches tall and 24 to 30 inches wide, Big Time Blue Lavender is ideal for use as an accent in smaller garden spaces or in groupings, mass plantings, or as a hedge/border in landscape and perennial borders and herb gardens. It is also suitable for growing in containers. A fine selection for herb gardens, perennial gardens, blue or purple theme gardens, cut flower gardens, cottage gardens, rock gardens, fragrance gardens and the Xeriscape (low water needs).

Suggested Spacing:  18 to 24 inches inches apart for mass plantings or solid borders;  4 feet or more apart for space between plants

Lavender is easy to grow in a moist to somewhat dry well-drained soil of average to low fertility and plenty of sun. Constantly soggy soil or standing water is problematic. If desired, the plant can be cut back by one-third its height after flowering to maintain a fuller plant. For example, if your plant is 24 inches tall you can cut it back to 18 inches tall.
